Let me be real clear right from the start. I do not recommend watching this movie. There are times when movies come out and they clearly are targeted at teenagers and wildly inappropriate. Project X
is one of those films that many of our teenagers are going to see and you need to know what this film is all about.
follows three seemingly anonymous high school seniors as they attempt to finally make a name for themselves. Their idea is innocent enough: let's throw a party that no one will forget... but nothing could prepare them for this party. Word spreads quickly as dreams are ruined, records are blemished and legends are born. Project X
is a warning to parents and police everywhere.
That was the official synopsis… “A warning to parents and police everywhere.” Really Warner Brothers, really?
I tried watching this movie without fast forwarding it… and I failed. This movie is full of foul language, sex, drinking, drugs and a whole lot more. Plus the main characters are disrespectful, disobedient and disgusting… and all of that is celebrated.
The movie starts with Thomas singing a foul song and it goes downhill from there.
If that wasn’t enough, the whole thing is filmed like a home movie… and you know I hate that. There are no redeemable quartiles about Project X
… it’s a "Project Coaster" for me.
SHOULD KIDS SEE IT?
There are non-stop sexual references, sexual profanity, dialogue, and jokes from start to finish. And there are several pairs of breast visible during the movie.
There is some violence as well. Like several fights, broken bones and a man is shown badly burned after his flamethrower blows up on him.
Then there is the profanity. About 175 F-words, 9 obscene hand gestures, 15 sexual references (including 4 hand gestures for female masturbation), and a whole lot more.
Except for the first 30 minutes and the last 5 minutes, there is non stop drinking, partying, drug use and smoking all involving high schoolers, including beer, hard liquor and smoking marijuana and ecstasy.
